How you Get In and Out - Matters

Concerts can be an unforgettable experience, filled with electrifying energy and unforgettable moments. But, it is the getting to and from concerts that can be a daunting experience. Transportation, especially for those who aren't familiar with the area or the venue, can be a hassle. This is why planning your transportation in advance can make your trip to and from the concert hassle-free. Here are some top tips for transportation to/from concerts.

1. Choose Public Transportation

One of the easiest ways to get to and from a concert is by using public transportation. Doing this means that you don't have to navigate a crowded parking lot or worry about the post-concert traffic. Additionally, it is usually cheaper compared to driving and parking, making it a more affordable option. You can simply take a train, bus, or subway to get to the venue. Make sure you download a transportation app like Transit or Google Maps to keep a check on schedules and routes.

Important note: Make sure you have a travel plan if the concert let's out later than the "Last Run."

2. Play the Taxi or Ridesharing Service Lottery

Another great way to get to and from concerts is by hiring a taxi or a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft. They can drop you off right at the venue, and you don't have to worry about parking or navigating through crowded streets. You can book a ride in advance or simply hail one from the venue.

Important note: plan for huge surge prices before and after the show, reports of a normal trip costing around $30 suddenly is near $250 or more, forcing you to either wait for the demand to lower (which is what others are doing as well, thus it takes a while for prices to get closer to a more "friendlier" level, sometimes hours. OR, you have the joy of hoping that your ride-share driver does not cancel the trip thus starting the search for another all over again.

3. Drive Yourself – Only if you are prepared

If you prefer to drive yourself to the concert, you should make sure that you plan ahead. This means that you should plan for traffic, parking, and finding your way to the venue. An excellent idea is to check for parking options on the venue's website or reach out to their customer service and take a note of parking rates, recommended lots, and timings. Arrive early or allocate enough time to overcome unforeseen traffic snarls or delays.

Important note: traffic congestion, road rage, and the high potential of extra stress robs you of the joy of the event - be prepared mentally. Also, if you've consumed any mind altering substances (includes alcohol), know that most events are heavily patrolled and a DUI will cost you upwards of $10,000 or more.

4. Consider Carpooling

Carpooling is a fantastic way to have fun and save money on your way to and from the concert. You can either carpool with friends or find concert goers who want to share a ride with you. There’s less traffic, less pollution and you get to reduce your carbon footprint too. If you’re looking for fellow concert-goers to carpool with, you can check social media groups or message boards dedicated to concerts in your area.

Important note: Don't loose track of your designated driver!! And, remember where you parked. There have been countless times where a driver has left members of their party behind and the stranded party(ies) are left scrambling to find an alternative solution back to their original destination.

5. Book a Private Ride

Consider the benefits of a private ride: reduced stress, able to be in the moment, pre-game before the show, have fun, and enjoy any beverages you've brought along for the trip. You don't have to worry about traffic or how you're getting there or back. You simply get to enjoy being able to sit back and relax, participating in the events as you choose.

Important note: most operators will charge an additional concert pick up fee due to the nature of having to stage prior to the end of the show in order to be "on time" for your pickup. Additionally, most operators will offer SUV services on a point-to-point basis, but almost all Sprinters and Limousines fare structures are based on an hourly rate plan. In other words, you have options based on your budget and time requirements.

Conclusion:

Planning your transportation in advance can make your trip to and from the concert much smoother. Private transportation is the most predictable and reliable. There are risks associated with public transportation, hiring a taxi or ride-sharing service, or carpooling, but regardless with a little planning you have a great time at the concert without having to worry about the logistics. So, keep these tips in mind, and make your next concert experience an unforgettable one. Enjoy!
